The part that matters most. Prices in ChurAte are indicative and may be wrong or out of date. Check the price in store before you rely on it. Stores with a commercial relationship to us are always labelled in the app.
These terms are between you and Churate Limited (NZBN 9429053285522), the New Zealand company that makes ChurAte ("we", "us"). Using the app or churate.com means you accept them.
About prices
ChurAte collects prices from publicly available supermarket websites and shows them so you can compare. Those prices:
- are collected periodically, so they can be hours or days old;
- may differ from the price at the till, including because of in-store specials, loyalty pricing, regional differences and simple error;
- may be matched to the wrong product, because matching thousands of supermarket listings to everyday ingredients is imperfect.
The app shows how old a store's prices are, and flags lines where the underlying data looks wrong. Please treat every total as an estimate.
Store names and relationships
Store names appear in ChurAte to say where a price came from, and remain the property of their owners. Unless a store is labelled in the app as a partner, it has no affiliation with us and has not endorsed ChurAte. As at the date above, no supermarket chain has any relationship with us.
Partner stores and sponsored content
Some stores appear in ChurAte under a commercial agreement with us. Their prices and specials are supplied by the store itself, not collected from a website, and such stores are labelled in the app. Sponsored recipes are paid placements and always carry a "Sponsored" label.
Payment never changes the maths. The cheapest-trolley comparison ranks purely on price. A partner store or sponsor cannot pay to appear cheaper, rank higher, or displace a supermarket price in the comparison.
Using the app
You agree not to:
- use ChurAte for anything unlawful;
- attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service;
- re-publish or resell the price data the app displays.
Accounts and households
An account is optional. If you create one, keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
A household sync code works like a key: anyone holding it can read and change that household's plan and shopping list. Share it only with people you live with. You can delete your account, and optionally the shared household, from Profile → Account in the app.
No warranty
ChurAte is provided "as is". We do not promise that it will be available, accurate, or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties and are not liable for loss arising from your use of the app, including money spent, or not saved, in reliance on a price it showed.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
